Announcing a New Masterwork:Lady Macbeth: Sleep No More
The Queen of Opera, D’Andrea Pelletier, and award-winning composer and film director Simeon Lumgair reunite for their most daring collaboration yet: a third studio album entitled Lady Macbeth: Sleep No More. Slated to begin recording in Summer 2025, the album promises to be a groundbreaking fusion of classical voice, cinematic scoring, and ancient language—sung entirely in Scottish Gaelic.
Following the critical success of their earlier works, this new project marks a bold evolution in both artists’ creative journeys. The album draws its lyrical and emotional inspiration directly from Shakespeare’s Macbeth—with texts adapted from the Bard’s original verse and faithfully translated into Gaelic. What emerges is a sonic tapestry of haunting beauty, where Shakespeare’s language lives again in a new, spectral tongue.
There are moments in an artist’s life when the voice does more than sing—it conjures. It transforms. It awakens something ancient.
This album is not a retelling. It is a deep psychological immersion into the world of Lady Macbeth herself—her ambition, her unraveling, her silence. Through D’Andrea’s otherworldly voice and Simeon’s cinematic orchestration, the mists of medieval Scotland rise again, and the poetry of Shakespeare becomes both sacred text and spell.
“This isn’t just an album,” D’Andrea shares. “It’s an invocation of the feminine mind in its most complex state—ambition, madness, grace, and grief woven into melody and breath.”
Lady Macbeth: Sleep No More is poised to expand D’Andrea Pelletier’s legacy as a soprano who doesn’t merely interpret classical music—she reimagines it, making it visceral, visual, and vividly alive. This project also furthers Simeon Lumgair’s distinctive approach to composition, weaving together filmic texture, literary reverence, and emotional depth.
As with their earlier release Ferruccio, the duo continues to push the boundaries of opera as a modern art form—one where story and sound are inseparable, and each note carries the weight of myth.
Stay connected as the journey begins. Lady Macbeth: Sleep No More is more than a recording.
It is Shakespeare’s ghost, sung into new life.
